Performance theatre to connect hearts and minds. William Yang is internationally renowned for his poignant work exploring social diversity, belonging and travel. William has been creating performance pieces since the late eighties and they are his main form of artistic expression.

William Yang’s forebears migrated from China to Australia over 100 years ago and subsequent generations adapted to Western culture. William grew up in North Queensland on a tobacco farm, and made his life as an architect, a playwright, a photographer, a visual artist, a film-maker, and now a story-teller. William has been creating performance pieces since the late eighties and they are his main form of artistic expression. He is internationally renowned for his poignant work exploring social diversity, belonging and travel. From behind the camera, Yang connects with audiences around Australia and the world through his intimate photographs and observations of events and people around him.

William will be working with four Tauranga migrants, sharing his skills to enable them to tell us their stories which will be presented before his performance. Toured by Performing Lines.
