Tauranga Arts Festival director Philip Tremewan announced today that he will be stepping down. Mr Tremewan has directed the festival for the past six years.
“Its been such a fine experience for me and I’m deeply indebted to the board, our sponsors and patrons and supporters for making the festival such a success”, said Mr Tremewan
Greg Latham, Associate director for the past three festivals will take over the director role. He will be joined by festival administrator Jo Bond who becomes the festival’s general manager.
“I’m very happy to hand over the tiller of the festival ship to my team members, said Mr Tremewan as we have worked closely together for the past three festivals. I believe they will take it up another notch or two”.
Festival trust chair Jon Mayson will also be stepping down from that role, his replacement will be current trust board member Glenn Dougal.
The 2009 arts festival saw record attendances with nearly thirty thousand people attending festival events.
“There was a real excitement and buy-in from the community last festival and I’m confident that will continue in 2011 with the new festival team”, said Mr Tremewan. “It’s very much a case of the old guard handing on succession to a young new team.”
